UK: British and Islamic flags raised together for 51st Jalsa Salana convention

The Union Jack and Ahmadiyya flags were raised alongside each other during the opening ceremony of the 51st Jalsa Salana annual convention held at Oaklands Farm in Hampshire, Friday. As some 38,000 Muslim worshippers looked on, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Caliph Mirza Masroor Ahmed raised the Ahmadiyya flag, while the Ahmadiyya's UK president Rafiq Hayat raised the Union Jack, in a display of... Еще solidarity. Hayat said «one of the teachings of Islam is loyalty to one's country,» and both flags were raised to show they are «true loyal citizens of this country.» Fareed Ahmad, UK National Secretary of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, described the raising of the Union Jack at the Jalsa Salana convention as a «remarkable honour.» One of the main focus points of the three-day convention is how to tackle extremism and radicalisation within the Muslim community. This year's Jalsa Salana convention will end on July 30.
