UK: Bristol removes BLM statue 24 hours after its installation

Bristol City Council contractors on Thursday removed a sculpture of Black Lives Matter (BLM) protester Jen Reid just 24 hours after it was erected on Wednesday. The statue had replaced the statue of slave trader Edward Colston and was entitled 'A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) 2020'. Reid was photographed standing on top of a plinth after the slave trader Colston’s statue was taken down and thrown into the harbour during a Black Lives Matter protest.
