WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange's lawyer Jennifer Robinson said that Assange «was hand-cuffed 11 times, strip-searched naked twice,» on Monday after the first day of his extradition hearing, while speaking outside Woolwich Crown Court in London on Tuesday.
Robinson stated that Assange also had his «legal papers interfered with and taken away from him,» adding that his defence team had raised... Еще these issues with the court as part of their concerns about how they affected Assange's «ability to properly participate in these proceedings.»
The WikiLeaks co-founder has remained behind bars in high-security Belmarsh Prison since May 1, 2019, after he was sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for breaching his bail conditions to avoid extradition to Sweden on sexual assault allegations. Despite this sentence coming to an end on September 22, a British judge ordered Assange remain in prison while facing extradition to the US, due to his previous history of absconding. The hearing continues.
