Hundreds of Asda supermarket workers rallied in Leeds on Wednesday to protest against contract changes being introduced by the UK supermarket retailer.
Organised by the UK's general trade union GMB, the rally saw the protesters marching through Leeds' city centre and rallying in the city's City Square.
Asda is reportedly offering higher wages in exchange for a new contract — named 'Contract 6... Еще' — that would initiate unpaid breaks and make working during bank holidays compulsory.
Asda workers claimed they have been threatened with redundancy if they don't sign up to the new contracts. «If they don't sign up it's either sign up or you've got no job at all,» said Former Asda worker and GMB Accompanying Representative Sue Walker.
