UAE: Jiu-jitsu gold medalist leads volunteers at Abu Dhabi drive-thru coronavirus swab centre

Gold-medal winning jiu-jitsu practitioner Faisal Al-Ketbi was filmed heading a group of volunteers at the Madinat Zayed drive-thru coronavirus swab centre, in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, as the authorities increased the number of tests for the virus in an effort to contain it. Footage shows Al-Ketbi and his co-volunteers at work, swabbing drivers and passengers in their cars on-the-go. «As the leader... We are volunteering because one of our ethics that we learned by Islam and learning by our traditions here as Emiratis, and of course by doing the sport — one of them is giving back to the people, giving back to our community. And it taught us that we should, as we take from everybody, we have to return and to give,» he added. The United Arab Emirates has reported over 12,000 cases of coronavirus since the start of the outbreak. At least 100 people have died with the virus, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
