Turkey: Pompeo, Erdogan discuss Khashoggi in Ankara

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Wednesday, where they discussed the disappearance of renowned Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Pompeo and Erdogan exchanged a warm handshake and then sat down to talk with officials of both countries. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu also attended the meeting. Pompeo's visit to Turkey comes... Еще after a stop in the Saudi capital, where he met with Saudi foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Khashoggi had gone to the consulate on October 2 to prepare documents for his upcoming marriage but has not been seen since. His fiance claims to have waited outside for 11 hours but says he did not return. So far, Saudi authorities maintain that Khashoggi left the building on the same afternoon as his visit. US President Donald Trump and Pompeo have since reiterated that King Salman and Saudi officials denied knowledge of what happened to Khashoggi.
