In an emergency session held on Thursday, the Turkish Parliament approved a motion to deploy Turkish troops to Libya for one year.
The parliament passed the bill with 325 votes against 184 to send troops to Libya to back the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA).

Turkish President had first announced the possibility of a military deployment to Libya during a surprise visit to Tripoli on December 25.
On November 27, Libya's GNA and Turkey signed a military and security cooperation agreement, mapping out a maritime boundary between both countries in the Mediterranean, close to the Greek island of Crete, leading the Greek authorities to expel Libyan Ambassador Mohamed Younis A.B. Menfi from Greece.
