Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Greece to «open your doors,» adding that the migrants massed at its border «will not come and stay in your country,» while speaking at International Women's day event in Istanbul.
«They will cross and will go to another European country. Why are you bothered?» continued Erdogan.
«Open your doors too, get rid of this burden, they can go to other... Еще European countries,» he added.
Large numbers of migrants have been heading towards Turkey's European borders since last week after Erdogan announced that Turkish authorities would no longer stop migrants from trying to enter the EU.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a €700 million ($779 million) aid package to help Greece deal with the large-scale influx of migrants after Erdogan effectively opened the borders.
