Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu during his visit to Ankara on Wednesday, to discuss his earlier encounter with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Zarif's trip to Syria and Turkey started one day earlier, aimed at developing political talks with Damascus and Ankara. The visit also comes a week before the 12th Astana talks, which will take place on April 25-26. In the meeting, Moscow, Ankara and Tehran are to discuss the political situation of the Syrian civil war.
