Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the G20 nations in a virtual message recorded from Istanbul, on Saturday.
Erdogan spoke about the need for global cooperation to face the ongoing economic consequences from the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that «this pandemic, which is considered the most serious health crisis of the last century, has had a tremendous effect on our lives from economy to trade, from education to human relations.»
The Turkish president also said that the decisions taken at the summit will «be determining in not only alleviating the negative impacts of the pandemic but also in meeting the expectations from G20.»
Saudi Arabia is hosting the G20 which will run through Sunday. The summit is held virtually with most of the head of states unable to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
