The opera 'Reborn' was premiered in Istanbul on Thursday, marking the 100th anniversary of when Republic of Turkey's founding father, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, left Istanbul to head to Samsun to start the War of Independence. It is said to be the first time that Ataturk was portrayed on an opera stage.
«This is a very valuable day for us,» said Murat Karahan, the General Manager of the Samsun State... Еще Opera and Ballet.
The opera shows the Dardanelles Campaign, World War I events and the Turkish War of Independence, with around 130 artists that perform arias, dances, chorus music and duets.
Karahan shared his emotions by saying that «it really was a wonderful night that made us proud, gave us goosebumps and made us all cry. I am proud of my team, and especially of the Samsun Opera and Ballet.»
The next staging of 'Reborn' will take place in Samsun, on the 20th of May.
