A bus carrying tourists on an excursion to Ain Draham plummeted off a hill during a sharp turn in the northern region of Ain Snoussi on Monday, killing 24 and injuring 18.
Footage shows the overturned bus and its debris.
Eyewitnesses described the accident, with one of them saying that they «took out the dead with our hands and their ages ranged from 18 to 25 years.»
Mohammed al-Qomani, People... Еще's Assembly deputy for the Ennahda Movement, called the accident a «national disaster» and highlighted «the conditions of the bus and the conditions of the organisation of the trip, as well as the conditions of the roads that deny the men and women of Tunisia to enjoy the beauty of the northwest.»
Tunisian President Kais Saied and Tunisian Prime Minister Yousef Chahed were later seen arriving to the hospital for a visit.
The tourists were driving from Tunis to Ain Draham, a popular tourist spot with mountainous reliefs.
