A one million Yen (8,235/$9,337) COVID-19 mask made of real pearls is for sale in Tokyo, as shown in footage from the Japanese capital on Tuesday.
The glamorous gadget was conceived by designer Rieko Kawanishi, who wanted to make a «fun» mask out of Japanese pearls that can also double down as a luxury necklace.
The mask is made with 310 pieces of Akoya pearl and takes around three days to make, shared Kawanishi, with customers mostly buying it for partying purposes or out of sheer curiosity.
According to Kawanishi, the mask is best used as a zany way to surprise people at a party.
«Then if you don't need it anymore, you can take it off and just use it as a necklace.»
