The bong is back! London's Big Ben chimes once again

Big Ben in London chimed once again at 09.00 GMT on Thursday morning, after falling silent on August 21 due to repairs to Elizabeth Tower in which it is housed. The famous bell is being tested throughout the day by the Westminster clockmakers, who are trying to make sure it strikes at exactly 11.00 GMT for Armistice Day commemorations on November 11. Armistice Day is commemorated every year on... Еще November 11 to mark the peace signed between the Allies and Germany in 1918 that signalled the end of World War I on the Western Front.
