Еще President Vladimir Putin’s visit to a Samara bakery on Wednesday really took the biscuit as he was given his very own space-themed cake complete with edible Buran space shuttle and grape planet. “Because Samara is a space city, we made this cake especially for you,” the director of the bakery said, even offering to deliver the cake to the president. The director looked noticeably flustered as Putin thanked her by shaking her hand and kissing her on the cheek. The “Cosmic Samara” cake weighs in at a belt-bursting three kilogrammes (6.6 pounds) and is made from mousse, biscuit and layers of meringue. Later on Wednesday, Putin is scheduled to meet with a group of female entrepreneurs from all over Russia at the bakery ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8.
