Thailand: Thousands of students rally in Bangkok to demand political reform

Thousands of high school students rallied in Bangkok's on Saturday in the latest round of protests against the government. Large crowds of protesters could be seen gathered under the Siam BTS Skytrain station with performers wearing dinosaur suits intended to symbolise the outdated nature of the government. On Wednesday evening, the Thai Parliament rejected a draft backed by protesters that would include changes in articles linked to the country's monarchy. The rejection of the bill has been seen by members of the young opposition as a backwards move, as represented by dinosaur outfits. Thailand has seen a wave of anti-government demonstrations throughout the past months, with students and other activists calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, as well as constitutional reform, and a reform of the long-standing monarchy system in the country. Counter-protests in support of the monarchy have also been taking place.
