Thailand: Thousands of anti-govt protesters call for PM to resign in Bangkok

Thousands of protesters rallied in Bangkok on Sunday, after the expiration of a deadline set by the demonstrators for Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha to step down. Protesters were seen shouting and holding their cellphones up in the air as they gathered at Bangkok's busy Ratchaprasong intersection, in front of the Central World shopping plaza. Thailand has experienced large scale student-led demonstrations in different parts of the country for 11 days, with protesters demanding Chan-ocha to resign, and reforms to be made to the monarchy, such as decreasing the funding of the crown. The protests have been going on despite a state of emergency related to COVID-19 being was announced by the Prime Minister on Thursday, October 15.
