Tehran artists exhibit painted face masks amid coronavirus pandemic

An art gallery held an exhibition of painted face masks in Tehran on Friday, with 70 Iranian artists promoting the use of masks through their art. «Considering the unpleasant events that have occurred during this period, especially for the whole world, we decided to show with our work the only thing we can do, which is to present the idea that a simple mask can prevent many other unpleasant events,» explained Anita Ashrafi, one of the artists. «It leads to culture building, in order for it [the mask] to be used more and [healthcare guidelines] to be observed. In fact, it is a kind of solidarity, in my opinion, that this problem is universal, and we must all join hands. It was wonderful and very beautiful work,» one visitor said. The theme of the project “Wear a Mask” is aimed at promotiong local art but also at raising awareness about the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of wearing a mask in public to decrease infection risks.
