Syria: Water level in Euphrates River falls to record low

The water level in the Euphrates River has fallen to record lows, as was seen on Saturday in the Qara Qozak region in the eastern countryside of Aleppo. The footage indicates the drought conditions that some of the area has reached, reportedly as a result of Turkey's construction of the giant «Alyso» dam. One local said complained that “We have been suffering for a month and a half from Turkey cutting water to the Euphrates.” «For around a month there is no electricity and there is no water to drink. Turkey cut our water supply greatly, destroying the people and destroying everyone,» he added. According to reports, Turkey reduced the rate of the Euphrates River flowing into Syria at the beginning of May. It is the second time Turkey has reduced the flow of water, the first instance occurring in summer of 2017.
