Syria: Venezuelan ambassador looks to garner support for Maduro's second term

Venezuela's Ambassador to Syria Jose Biomorgi reached out to allies within the Syrian government ahead of President Nicolas Maduro’s inauguration, at a symposium in Damscus on Thursday. The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo vowed to use the full weight of US economic and diplomatic power to press for democratic reforms in Venezuela. Last week. a regional bloc known as the Lima Group signed a statement claiming Maduro's new six-year term as illegitimate, as the election on May 20, 2018 was not fair and free.
