Syria: Serbian Patriarch Irenaeus arrives in Damascus for week-long pilgrimage

Patriarch Irenaeus, leader of the Serbian Orthodox Church, arrived in Damascus on Saturday for a week-long pilgrimage to Syria. Footage shows Irenaeus arriving at Mariam Cathedral, meeting Patriarch John X of Antioch and Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II of the Syriac Orthodox Church. The trip, which is scheduled to last until June 8, will include a tour of the Syrian capital’s historic neighborhoods... Еще and a meeting with Patriarch Youssef al-Absi of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. Irenaeus is expected to travel through various governorates in Syria, stopping by the monastery of Sidnaya, north of Damascus, visiting several villages in the 'Valley of Christians' near Homs, and the monastery of St. Belmana in the province of Tartous on the Syrian coast.
