Syria: Scientist denies Damascus research facility possessed chemical weapons

An official at a scientific research institution hit by the U.S.-led air strikes over the weekend denied the facility possessed chemical weapons, in an interview from outside what was left of the Barzah scientific research centre in Damascus on Sunday. «There are no signs of chemical warfare agents. This is a civilian facility, where technologies were developed for the production of drugs and... Еще chemicals used for peaceful, economic purposes,» said Saeed Saeed, Head of the Institute for Development of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industries. He explained that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) had used the research centre as a working base, when the Syrian army had submitted to weapons inspectors in 2013.
