Syrian Arab Army (SAA) units reportedly recaptured the towns of Tanjara and Al-Fatrah, in the north-western Hama countryside, according to local reports on Monday.
Footage filmed in Tanjara on Tuesday shows fighters on the ground loading and firing weapons, as well clouds of smoke could rising in distance, while SAA troops were spotted on patrol around the village.
«The militants tried again — in large numbers — to sneak into Al-Tanjarah village which falls under the de-escalation zone. We adhered to the ceasefire, but they violated it, so we have handled this and killed them all,” a SAA officer said.
According to the state-owned Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the SAA advance came after an assault carried out by militants on SAA points in both settlements.
After a temporary withdrawal, SAA forces recaptured the territory lost and seized weapons and vehicles.
