A woman from Raqqa city recounted on October 20 how innocent families died along with self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIL/ISIS) forces during the recent re-capturing of the area by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
She recounted how in one building in her neighbourhood, «300 people died in this building, some were civilians and some were from ISIS — but most of them were civilians... Еще.» The woman requested not to be named due to fear of retaliation.
The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces declared the total liberation of the city of Raqqa, the capital of the self-proclaimed Islamic State's (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) 'caliphate' earlier this month. Raqqa had been IS' stronghold since 2014.
