Syria: National Museum of Damascus restores IS-destroyed Palmyra artefacts

A team of experts at the National Museum of Damascus demonstrated ongoing process of restoring damaged or fully-destroyed antiques from the ancient city of Palmyra, which were looted or destroyed by the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) in the heat of the war, footage from Wednesday shows. Shortly after combat ceased in Palmyra, authorities retrieved hundreds of damaged and fully-destroyed artifacts and brought them to the National Museum of Damascus in an attempt to restore them. According to reports, it is expected that the process will take between five to eight years.
