Deir ez-Zor residents expressed their support for the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), on Wednesday, as the force battles the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) who have been besieging the city for over two years. Last week SAA forces and its allies forces recaptured Al-Sukhnah (70 km east of Palmyra, in Homs Province), the SAA force are now pushing towards Deir ez-Zor. The city has been under siege by IS since the group launched an offensive on the city in May 2015. Some 125,000 civilians reportedly live in the city under dire humanitarian conditions.
