Syria: Afrin regional government calls for end to Turkish attacks

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Afrin region called on the international community to put an end to Turkish attacks in the district, in the Syrian city of Afrin on Sunday. Hundreds of residents stood behind the regional government at the Noorz roundabout, where they raised flags for the People's and Women's Protection Units (YPG, YPJ) and showed their support. The Kurdish leaders called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to instate an air embargo over the city, warning that Afrin could face human catastrophe. According to reports, the Turkish army is now 2km (1.2 miles) from Afrin’s suburbs. Several other demonstrations involving civilians from other areas of Syria were held on the same day.
