Nearly 900 children were released by an armed group allied with the government in north-eastern Nigeria, the UN Children's agency announced at a news conference in Geneva on Friday. The alliance of militants, known as Civilian Joint Task Group, which is fighting against the armed group Boko Haram, signed an agreement with the government to end the recruitment and use of children in 2017.
«The... Еще children and young people released today will benefit from reintegration programmes to help them to return to civilian life and seize opportunities for their own development,» said Christophe Bouilerac, the UNICEF spokesperson.
He added that in the past two years, nearly 10,000 people formerly linked to Boko Haram had access to such services.
