Switzerland: Delegations from Russia, Iran and Turkey arrive for Syria talks

Russian, Iranian and Turkish delegations arrived on Tuesday at the Palace of Nations in Geneva for a formal meeting with UN Special Envoy Staffan de Mistura to discuss the situation in Idlib and review progress in the constitutional commission creation. The Russian delegation is headed by Russian Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin. Turkish... On Monday, the UN special envoy held informal consultations will each of the three delegations. On September 14, de Mistura will hold another round of talks with top-rank officials from the so-called «small group» on Syria (UK, Germany, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the US and France) as well as with representatives of the EU and the Arab League. On September 20, de Mistura is expected to present a report to the UN Security Council on the recent developments in the Syrian political process.
