Switzerland: Carmakers ditch racy motor show models amid #MeToo pressure

Car manufacturers presenting at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show have ditched the traditional mini skirt-clad, stiletto-wearing 'booth babe' in favour of more conservatively dressed male and female hosts as the #MeToo campaign continues to gather global momentum. While some manufacturers have dropped models altogether, fearing criticism from supporters of the feminist movement, others claimed it was... Еще simply part of their marketing strategy. Etienne Plas, a senior manager for Lexus, said that the use of models «depends on the strategy that we have adopted to launch the car.» He cited the previous year's show, in which Lexus debuted a new car that made use of exclusive materials alongside a model wearing a dress of the same components. But he also acknowledged the influence of #MeToo and said Lexus «would be extremely prudent» when considering the use of models in future.
