State of Palestine: UNRWA employees protest against US funding cut in Gaza

Employees at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) rallied outside its headquarters in Gaza City on Monday, to protest against recent US funding cuts. The protesters exhibited numerous palestinian flags, and placards such as «Dignity is priceless.» «We tell the donor countries to be honest in their commitments and to compensate the American shortage and we... Еще ask the General Secretary to stay on his decision and the UNRWA to take decision from the General Assembly of the UN and to find other donors to take over this shortage,» said Ameer al-Meshal, head of the UNRWA employees staff union in the Gaza Strip. In January, the administration of US President Donald Trump said it would withhold $65 million of a planned $125 million funding installment to UNRWA, calling on other nations to contribute more.
