State of Palestine: Thousands decry death of two fishermen shot by Egyptian navy

Thousands of mourners gathered for the funeral of two fishermen, in Deir Al-Balah, on Sunday. Mahmoud of al-Za'zou and his brother Hassan of al-Za'zou were shot on Friday in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Rafah, by Egyptian naval forces whilst working. The third brother was injured and mourners demanded he be returned to Gaza. Mother of the victims, Umm Nidal al-Za'zou, appealed to the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, «If there remains an iota of mercy in your heart, you will return to me my son Yasser.» The funeral procession began from their home and ended at the Deir Al-Balah cemetery in the city centre. Head of Gaza's fishermen union, Nizar Ayyash, said, «They shot directly at fishermen who are working for their livelihood. We call for an urgent investigation into the accident that happened yesterday, and for the release of the third brother of the martyrs.» The dead bodies have been returned, whilst the wounded brother is reportedly receiving treatment in Egypt.
