State of Palestine: Thousands back Mahmoud Abbas's move at UN

Thousands of Palestinians gathered for a demonstration in Ramallah on Tuesday, in support of the appearance Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas at the United Nations. Fatah called the demonstration to back Abbas, who is due to speak out against US President Donald Trump's fabled 'deal of the century' at the United Nations Security Council later in the day. Protesters chanting, brought... Еще along homemade signs and carried a gigantic Palestinian flag. Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud al-Aloul spoke at the rally, alongside fellow member Jamal Muhaisen and Major General Adnan al-Damiri. «Our message today is to stand with President Mahmoud Abbas, who rejects any blackmail by the United States of America and the Netanyahu gang,» said Major-General al-Damiri. Muhaisen argued that the deal contradicted the international legitimacy and the historical rights of the Palestinian people. «If Netanyahu decides to annex lands from the West Bank, the Palestinian legislative institutions and the leadership must withdraw their recognition of Israel», he added. Trump unveiled his plan for the Israel-Palestine conflict during a joint press statement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on January 28. Abbas has already rejected the plan, describing it as being one-sided in favour of Israel.
