Palestinians protested in front of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Supply Center in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp against the US slashing aid support of the organisation in more than half, in the Gaza Strip, on Wednesday. People held banners, Palestinian flags, chanted, voicing their anger and despair of the recent US move. «What is now... Еще provided is not enough for a family to live for a month! The reduction of aid is even worse», lamented protester Salmi AlKhawaldi. «America must pay our full share for the refugees», agreed another protester, Shahdi Abu Mukhaima. On Tuesday the US announced that it will give UNRWA $60 million (€49 million) in aid for Palestinian refugees, but will hold back the remaining $65 million (€53 million). According to State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert, the decision was aimed at encouraging other countries to increase aid. However, many believe the cuts to be politically motivated as they come two weeks after US President Donald Trump questioned the value of the funding on Twitter and accused the Palestinians of not being «willing to talk peace».
