Thousands of Palestinian workers were allowed to re-enter Israel on Sunday, after last month's decision by the Israeli government to prevent them from going to their workplaces as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus.
Footage shows the labourers walking through the Ni'lin crossing in Ramallah, as they carried some belongings and wore protective masks.
The workers, who were registered... Еще at the crossing point, will be given one day to enter the country and will have to stay for the rest of the month.
Israeli authorities will ensure the safety of workplaces and accommodation to avoid the spread of the virus, according to Walid Al-Bayed, Director General of the Ministry of Labour in Ramallah.
The opening of the border came as Israel approved the entry of 70,000 Palestinian workers holding an Israeli work permit for sectors considered 'essential' such as construction.
As of Sunday, the West Bank and Gaza registered 353 confirmed cases and 2 deaths with COVID-19, according to data gathered by the Johns Hopkins University, while Israel has 16,193 confirmed cases and 230 deaths.
