Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed “never to sever” the Jewish roots from the West Bank at a ceremony in the settlement of Barkan, marking 50 years of Jewish settlement in the West Bank and Golan Heights.
Netanyahu told the audience that “this is the historical continuance of our people, here (in the West Bank) our identity was formulated, our beliefs, our history.”
Shortly... Еще before the ceremony began, its organiser Culture Minister Miri Regev criticised a decision by outgoing Supreme Court Chief Justice Miriam Naor, not to send a representative of the judicial authority to the event, a move which received the backing of the High Court of Justice.
The decision, Regev asserted, «bolsters the BDS Movement,» which calls for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel.
Barkan was established in 1981 by the Betar and Herut movements, it is considered illegal by international law.
