State of Palestine: I hope for 'lasting peace for the region' — Prince William to Abbas

Prince William became the first member of the British royal family to make an official visit to Palestine in Ramallah on Wednesday, one day after his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told the prince that the Palestinian side is committed to the peace process with the Israelis, noting «we are fully ready to resume... Еще negotiations in order to achieve this goal of two states.» «My sentiments are the same as yours in hoping there's a lasting peace for the region,» the Duke of Cambridge said in response. «I am very much looking forward to meeting some Palestinians today and seeing some of the culture and the diversity of the Palestinian way of life.» Currently second in line to the throne, William is on a five-day tour of the Middle East, which includes stopovers in Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
