The Palestinian Authority (PA) has withdrawn their employees from the Rafah border crossing in the Gaza strip, leaving Hamas in control of Gaza's only entry point into Egypt, footage from Monday shows.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem criticised the withdrawal decision saying that it was intended to «intensify the siege focused on the Gaza Strip» and adding that «it deepens division.»
The PA has... Еще reportedly accused Hamas of obstructing their work at the border, and that Hamas officials of harassed and detained their employees.
The withdrawal leaves the status of the border crossing in limbo, as the crossing was closed by Egyptian authorities after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi accused Hamas of materially supporting terrorists in Egypt through the tunnels and crossings around Rafah. The PA took control of the crossing in November 2017, as part of a deal with Egypt, in which the re-opening of the crossing was contingent on PA control.
