Hundreds of Palestinians took part in a protest march to a United Nations office in Gaza City, Thursday, on the 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration. The protesters carried numerous Palestinian flags as well as placards with slogans aimed against former British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour, demanding that Great Britain displays atonement for the declaration. «It is required from... Еще Britain to atone for this terrible crime by apologising to our Palestinian people and the apology does not mean just verbal language but also including a political, legal and moral dimension,» said Talal Abu Zarifa from the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP). «If they want to atone for this crime, they have to support the right of the Palestinian people to determine their own destiny, establish their independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and the return of the refugees in accordance with Resolution 194,» he added. The Balfour Declaration was issued by Great Britain during World War I, supporting the foundation of a «national home for the Jewish people» on the territory of Palestine.
