State of Palestine: Gaza locals decry Israel-UAE deal as 'disaster'

Gaza City residents shared mostly negative feelings about the US-brokered historic peace deal sealed between Israel and the UAE, Thursday. «The Palestinian people in all its forms are explicitly against Arab normalisation with Israel because this is equal to giving a green light to the Israeli occupation by continuing its destructive policy and its crimes against our Palestinian people,» said Gaza resident Abu Daqqa. Another Gaza resident Khaled Safi, added, «now, by publicly announcing normalisation, it is practically encouraging the Zionist entity to continue its rape of Palestine and its continued denial of the rights and legal constants of the Palestinian people.» Basil Jarada, another local, in turn called the event a «disaster.» Under this diplomatic agreement, Israel will have to halt its plans to expand further into West Bank. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also commented on the deal, being positive about its outcome, though stressing that eventual establishing of Israeli sovereignty over parts of West Bank was not off the table.
