Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Gaza Strip Dr Yousef Abu Reesh confirmed the first two cases of COVID-19 in Gaza Strip early Sunday. The two cases were both males in stable condition, aged 30 and 40 and had recently returned from Pakistan.
In such a densely populated area where unemployment is at 52% and poverty levels are at 50%, some experts fear that an outbreak in the enclave... Еще could have the potential to be as bad as what we have seen occurring on cruise ships.
«Today the results have emerged, we confirm two cases between these returnees to the Gaza Strip and these cases returned from Pakistan on Thursday, March 19th, 2020,» stated Dr Yousef Abu Reesh.
All Palestinians returning home can still enter Gaza amid the lockdown, but are first sent to quarantine centres.
«I want to reassure our people that no cases have been recorded from within the Gaza Strip and that these two cases have been registered from among those returning to the Gaza Strip,» explained Dr Yousef Abu Reesh.
The two new cases confirmed on Sunday bring Palestine's total confirmed cases to 55, with no deaths reported thus far.
