Dozens of people gathered in the West Bank city of Hebron on Tuesday to celebrate the 17th birthday of imprisoned Palestinian activist Ahed al-Tamimi, which is on January 31. The celebration of Tamimi's birthday was held in the neighbourhood of Ghaith near the Tomb of the Patriarchs. During the celebration, people brought out a cake featuring Tamimi's face. Israeli troops were seen securing the... Еще area during the celebration. Hebron Governorate Representative Amin Al-Ja'bari, who attended the celebration, said that «it's a beautiful message, which proves that the Palestinian people love life, and the Palestinian people want to live in their land with dignity and freedom.» Tamimi, a daughter of two Palestinian activists, was charged with assault, incitement and throwing stones at security forces during West Bank protests in December 2017. A video of her allegedly slapping an Israeli soldier surfaced online and she was subsequently arrested for the action on December 19. The Palestinian teenager has become a symbol of Palestinian resistance against Israel since her arrest, with her story being told around the world. Tamimi is set to appear in military court on February 6.
