Locals reacted to the death of Chief Negotiator for Palestinians in the Middle East Peace Process Saeb Erekat, Ramallah, Tuesday.
«For 30 years he was a strong man and he would not give up a grain of soil from our lands. The right man was in the right place, really, it is a loss for the Fatah movement par excellence,» one of the locals said.
Another local added, «may God have mercy on him, Dr. Saeb Erekat, who was like a compass that was directing the Palestinian leadership to this basic point that we always have the right to this country.»
Sixty-five-year-old Erekat, who was also Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) died in Hadassah University Medical Centre on Tuesday, after contracting COVID-19, according to media reports quoting the Centre.
