State of Palestine: Compass directing Palestinian leadership — Ramallah locals react to Chief Negotiator Erekat's death

Locals reacted to the death of Chief Negotiator for Palestinians in the Middle East Peace Process Saeb Erekat, Ramallah, Tuesday. «For 30 years he was a strong man and he would not give up a grain of soil from our lands. The right man was in the right place, really, it is a loss for the Fatah movement par excellence,» one of the locals said. Another local added, «may God have mercy on him, Dr. Saeb Erekat, who was like a compass that was directing the Palestinian leadership to this basic point that we always have the right to this country.» Sixty-five-year-old Erekat, who was also Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) died in Hadassah University Medical Centre on Tuesday, after contracting COVID-19, according to media reports quoting the Centre.
