Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem as a uS «settlement outpost,» when speaking at a PA leadership meeting in Ramallah on Monday. Abbas said, «On this anniversary, we hear that today they opened an embassy. It is a settlement outpost, not an embassy. It is an American settlement outpost. The first settlement outposts were done with America's... Еще help. Today, it is an American outpost in East Jerusalem.» He went on to say that Washington «has excluded itself from political work in the Middle East. It has excluded itself from mediation and is no longer a broker.» Abbas called for three days of mourning, following reports by the Palestinian Health Ministry that least 55 people were killed by Israeli fire during the protests on the Gaza-Israel border.
