Spain: Wildfires turn Galicia to ashes as death toll rises

A burned out van was discovered with the bodies of two women on the road between Camos and Chandebrito, Galicia on Monday, after wildfires ripped through the northwestern Spanish region. Strong winds fueled fires that spread across four provinces in Galicia, including a major fire in Vigo which is one of the most populated cities in the province. The Ministry of Defence has reportedly deployed a total of 500 soldiers to join the 350 firefighters, 220 pumps and air assets. Over 100 fires have ripped through Galicia since Friday. President Mariano Rajoy announced on Monday morning that he will be traveling to the afflicted areas.
