The operation to rescue Julen Rosello has hit another obstacle in its final phase, on Wednesday in Totalan. The team had to develop a new type of cage to go down the 50 metre tunnel and manually dig through the layer of rock still separating them for the toddler. Now in its 11th day, the operation hit another technical problem as the casing, meant to protect the rescuers as they worked... Еще underground, did not fit in the tunnel they had drilled. Firefighters had to go back to the drawing board and came up with a metal cage which can be used to climb up and down the vertical tunnel. “The team is ready for the final minute,” said Rafael Galvez, the head of emergency services in Andalusia. “The family can rest assured that we will rescue Julen, alive.” Two-year-old Julen Rosello fell down a 100-metre well on January 13, in Totalan, near the city of Malaga in southern Spain. His condition is still unknown as fallen dirt has obstructed the narrow hole and made it impossible to see or reach him.
