Madrid's Venezuelan expatriate community called for international intervention in their homeland to remove Nicolas Maduro from power.
The demonstration in the city's Opera Square was marked by flags and caps in the national colours.
Former Caracas Mayor Antonio Ledezma, who fled the country in 2017, said, «it is time for the international community resolves itself to having a responsibility to... Еще protect.»
A member of Spain's Congress, Maria Luisa Alonso — herself half-Venezuelan — added to calls for Spain to lead a European response.
The Madrid co-ordinator of centre-right party Vente Venezuela reiterated calls for military intervention: «We need an international coalition to help us evict the criminals using force. There is no other way.»
Other attendees were invited to speak and voice their opinion at the open rally.
