Spain: Valencia CF fans rally to demand departure of club's owners

Hundreds of Valencia CF fans protested outside Valencia's Mestalla Stadium on Wednesday, demanding the departure of the team's current owners and managers, Meriton Holdings and Singaporean investor Peter Lim. Protesting supporters chanted slogans and called for the exit of the company that owns the team, with some lighting candles at the base of a statue that honours Valencian fans. «Meriton Holdings and Peter Lim's management of Valencia has been a disastrous situation for many years, both sportive and social, and the time has come when everything has exploded, with players being sold at a ridiculous price, and above all because of the lack of respect for the fans they have,» said Hector Blat, creator of the movement 'Save our Valencia'. According to reports from local media, the anger of the fans flared up after the sale to Villarreal CF of players Dani Parejo and Francis Coquelin, as well as the dismissal of some club officials after decades in the team.
