The regional government of the Val d'Aran region met in the district capital of Vielha to discuss the ongoing political crisis between Catalonia and Spain and what the situation means for the area's future, Monday. Val d'Aran is a district on the border with France with its own additional powers within the autonomous region of Catalonia. The administrative unit, comprised of a valley near the... Еще Pyrenees, has its own language known as Aranese, and a unique history. The Ombudsman of Aran, Carlos Barrera, asserted that the region had the «right to decide» whether to remain with Spain or to side with the Catalonian separatists. Barrera added «at this time 155 doesn't affect the Conselh Generau d'Aran (the autonomous governing body of the Val d'Aran region) at the level of institutional recognition, but it has affected our dialogue with the Generalitat». Many in Val d'Aran have previously asserted the desire to remain a part of Spain if Catalonia were to secede.
