A train travelling from Ferrol to Madrid derailed near Zamora on Tuesday, after being hit by a car that fell from a bridge. The collision left two dead and several injured, including a train driver.
Footage shows the train overturned at the site of the accident and emergency personnel working on the scene. A helicopter and ambulances also arrived at the accident site.
«Shortly after arriving, the Alvia, coming from Ferrol, has run over the vehicle with the result, tragic, of two people dead. One, the occupant of the vehicle and the other, one of the drivers,» said Javier Izquierdo, the Government's delegate in Castilla y Leon.
According to media reports, the accident occurred after the driver of a vehicle crashed into the barriers of a bridge, falling onto the tracks, where he then hit the train.
